Visiting Guidelines

The HSC-Winnipeg Childrens Hospital follows guidelines from the Province of Manitoba based on the current COVID-19 pandemic response.  Our priority is ensuring the patients and families are cared for safely in the hospital and that infection risk is minimized.

Regular visiting hours still apply (8:30 am-8:30 PM) but may vary in specific units. Contact the nursing desk if visiting hours have changed.

Entering the hospital

The Winnipeg Children’s Hospital follows the guidelines for visiting patients set out by HSC.

There are limited entry points to the HSC site to allow for all members of the public to be screened for symptoms of COVID-19.  Entry is only through designated entrances.

All pediatric wards have controlled access requiring a staff member to clear family and visitors through controlled entry.  This system is designed to improve the safety and security of pediatrics patients in hospital.

In Pediatrics, we recognize that parents and guardians are the decision makers for their children and provide essential support. Each pediatric patient is allowed two designated parents or guardians to visit at one time. One parent or guardian may stay overnight with the child.  In circumstances where the patient is receiving end of life care, four essential care visitors may be identified to visit the patient.

A complete guideline for visiting during pandemic response can be found here.
